I also want to try the new Greenie lights I purchased this week. I have always made my own lights and they are better than starfire but the greenie principal sounds interesting and has less battery draw.

Posts: 1097 01/21/12 08:43 AM - 6 Limits 2012 - 16 Limits 2011	You will like them but Greenies are challanging in fast deep H/C currents. You will need lots of weight and rope. No less then 10 pds per light if the current is moving good and I use 15pds and sometimes this is not enough at H/C in the channel with the tide ripping. You can get away with much less out of the main current and closer to the bank. Keep your light field as deep as possible but still maintain a wide light field. Best light field will have no bright center spot, just a dull mild green hugh. You will also have to adjust the depth of your lights as the current changes speed. Goo luck.. You just got to go to know, crap another Jumbo just went under the boat.

Posts: 1097 01/21/12 10:54 AM - 6 Limits 2012 - 16 Limits 2011	I don't buy my lead. Used Wheel weights and roofing lead is the way to go for me.. Anything that gives you holding power will do. Anchors are not cheep ether and you normally have to buy them unless you have skill and material to make them. Mark you know me, Give me a PM and I can hook you up. 8 pds is normally good enough on 3 grand or less tides unless you are dead center in the Chanel. Remember also you can run a LEDgreenie down your main anchor line also when tides are fast in deep water. Just use a large branch hanger long line clip and you are set. This light can be deployed way out in front of the boat even on the fastest tides to give you time to dip the shrimp as they are flying by.. This along with two lights out both sides of my boat is becoming deadly effective at H/C on fast nights with dirty water. You just got to go to know, crap another Jumbo just went under the boat.
