It is official. Permit has been pulled.
We are kicking off the winter shrimping season with our first educational "Winter Shrimping" seminar which will begin at noon, and we will spend the day teaching, demonstrating and hanging out with friends. We will enjoy a BBQ, and as the sun sets we will launch our boats so that you can practice setting up your "kill zone" [setting your lights on your boat] and my team and myself will cruise the river and mentor you further 1 on 1.
This is FREE, Mark it on your calendars!
FEB 11TH, 2012 - NOON TO BOAT LAUNCH AT DUSK.
Mark your calendars, the tide will be outgoing around 3:30pm so we will have until 9:30pm, about 4 hours since it will get dark earlier. Superbowl is on 5th Feb, so your safe.
Tides allow for great shrimping afterwards, tide changes at 6:45pm, I believe.
This gives you a chance to practice setting up your kill zone in the river after learning new techniques. We will cruise the river and visit you on the water to see if your doing it right or need some 1 on 1 mentoring for a few moments. To soon to know if shrimp will be running, last year a few came thru the light field. Bring your boat, it will be fine in the field adjacent to your pavilion area.
We found that what we teach is not always want folks do because they were not sure what we meant in some instances. So this seminar is 2 parts, first part is classroom & eating, then go on the river and practice if you want. Due to number of boats at height of season, we will be unable to do river hands on instruction like we did in Novemeber when there were not boats on the river.
We will be creating a sign up topic, and we encourage folks to bring a dish, everyone eat for free, we will have raffle prizes and some great information on how best to maximize your bucket using LED. This year the focus will be on how to manipulate the shrimp into your nets using LED.
Watch this topic for updated info on speakers etc. Please watch for the sign up thread, so we can balance out the "eats".
