newy I agree with every one else I personally use one of my old spesrs from my spear fishing days. I like the ability remove the tip to get the flounder off rather than ripping the fish up getting the barbs out.I have lost a few due to the bottom being rock and I couldn't get the spear point all the way thrue but not enough to get upset about. As for length of the pole I use a 12 ft. curtain rod from Home depot and pole myself around until I see the fish turn the pole around and stick him.A flounder is pretty dumb and you can practically touch him without spooking the fish makes it a lot easier to get the head or gill shot. I have tried sticking them from above the surface and have missed more than I care to. I know you will enjoy it's a ball. Tight lines and happy giging.
