Someone asked the other day how to spot a slough on the beach. Here's a perfect slough I fished in this morning. A slough can be anywhere. You have to look for them. Sometimes you won't find one. Look out at the two large breakers. Then you see a calm spot about 50' wide then the small breakers hitting the beach. That's the slough. Fish right in there. On the incoming tide the fish move up over the outer bar into the slough. As the tide drops the slough gets shallow and the fish move back out to deeper water. I was able to cast under hand this morning no more than 40' - 50'. My avatar to the left has a beautiful slough.
