I STAND behind his products, I use them. I also buy my dip nets from RON, he uses 2 sizes of netting for the net to trap the bugs from walking out.

Ron is great and will repair you net for free if you rip it. He affectionately uses a nickname in another club that confuses some people. He is not  licensed USCG Captain, his neighbor referred to him as Captain because he had a boat and the name stuck.  People have said they are not looking for a Ron, they are looking for a Captain Ron. THIS is one and the same person depending on what circles you run in. RON ROCKS! When it comes to frame nets, dip nets and cast nets, there is ONLY ONE RON....Ron O'Brien.

Excellent guy, $100 for CFN [collapsible frame net] , 12 pound downrigger ball, and styrofoam marker ball  - All complete and ready to deploy you do NOT have to buy an extra thing. He gives you everything you need to go right to the river to deploy. It has a 15 foot sock I believe, and he uses 2 different size netting to ensure they stay trapped in the end and don't walk out.

He sells at the Oak Hill flea market on Sundays from 7 - 1pm during shrimping season Jan - May, on off season call him at his home (386)574---0386. He does try to get to the market x1 a month off season. He does NOT have a website, and relies on phone calls.

Allowable recreational nets for the harvest of shrimp:

• Landing or dip net with an opening no larger than 96 inches around the perimeter;
• Cast net with a stretched length (the distance from the horn at the center of the net, with the net gathered and pulled taut, to the lead line) no greater than 14 feet;
• Push net - "Push net" means a mesh net or bag attached to the outer edges of a triangular or rectangular rigid frame with a handle attached that is fished by being pushed across the bottom by a person wading;
• One frame net ("Frame net" means a net in the form of an elongated bag kept open by a rigid frame that is buoyed by floats and is not fished or dragged along the bottom), with an opening no larger than 16 feet around the perimeter, if deployed from a vessel or from a structure other than an operational bridge or causeway or catwalk attached to such bridge or causeway. (Frame nets shall not be considered an allowable gear for persons harvesting shrimp pursuant to this rule in any waters of the Southeast Region in Dade County); or
• A beach or haul seine with a mesh area no larger than 500 square feet, mesh size no large than 2 inches stretched mesh, and may not be made of monofilament.

Folks have re-purposed their old rigid frame nets to make a collapsible of sorts. You are not violating any patents by doing so as long as you do not intend to sell it. There is a patent pending but Ron knows people do this and even helps people do it.

There is NO technicality for design, there is only 1 rule and that is 16 sq ft rule. The frame net CANNOT touch the bottom on deployment either. I understand the real estate issue and this is why I am gonna switch over to NightOwl's 11 inch LED greenie shrimp lights vs. my 36" fluorescent ISAA club lights

I have a 17 ft polar, and with 2 people and gear, it gets a little small.

You will figure it out...Yuku is taking to long...they have a support site message board you can log on and ask....since you have a desktop and workable acct, I go there to ask questions...at bottom of page I have HELP ME LEE and in one of those topics I have a link to the support folks.

I have other friends stuck too, have 2 new ones that cannot log on...dunno what it is. But, I went to other Yuku sites, and the board owners have areas saying the same thing...go to support .... some have no problems, some have problems and this is every Yuku website not just mine.

There is a support link at top of board as well.....you should have heard something by now.....

My understanding for $25 that buys the sock and gets ya a free fence and he puts it on for ya for free.

The fence is the new thing that came to market last season, and I will NOT dip without a fence now. I do NOT lose as many rimmers now that I have the fence for them to bounce off of and drop down the net.

The Oak Hill shrimp are running right now according to my commercial shrimper sources in Northern Oak Hill.. The sizes are small but should be close to medium come full moon in Nov. We have started the season strong so far ...
