Welcome Joe,

Hit and miss is right for normally December...and around the new moon and or full moon, it gets better in January but the first 5 gallons tend to get reported 1st week of Feb, and normally mid-late April folks stop winter shrimping at night due to the small size of the shrimp. Feb and March are the 8 weeks of pure delight.

I am new to Florida but not new to salt water, I use to live in North Carolina but lived in Ohio for the last 20 years, just getting use to salt water fishing again

At the end of September we should still be throwing cast nets for white, bottom shrimp in the Ormond/Daytona area of the Intercoastal Waterway.

Summer day time cast netting yields the "white" shrimp.

Winter nocturnal night shrimping yields the brown and pinks, but an occasional rare white shrimp may appear in your bucket.

Which do I think the best? Brown and Pink

The first full moon in Dec has been known to kick off the season depending....but normally January gets the nod...and Feb-March are the height of the season, and April is the wind down for Oak Hill and Edgewater...Brevard County/Titusville and South turn oin hit and miss until June or so, and then summer...

Stumbled across this site in anticipation of a week at Sebastian Inlet State Park In late June. I lived in the Keys 15 years ago, and have forgotten much about fishing/shrimping/gear. Looks like you all might have a thing or two to re-teach this now surf junkie. Can't wait to go shrimping at the inlet!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Ira, I'm from Atlanta, Ga. I have been fishing my whole life and have a friend that got me shrimping.
I've only bee shrimping a couple of years went 2 weeks ago at oak hill, had a great night now I'm hooked forever. Trying to make monthly trips to FL to be able to shrimp.
