Folks seem to want to get together and do a "mini" seminar informal, laid back, attend at your own risk, bring your own life support [food/drinks], and the heat is gonna be brutal & WOO HOO ramp idiots too.

But, you will be in company with some hardcore cast net addicts which have the expertise to improve your game.

I will be heading to Keaton Beach in the gulf for another scalloping adventure Weds Aug 4th & 5th. My boat is full, I am taking SwampAngel, DragonFly and Austin back out because we kinda got robbed at Steinhatchee June 28-29th due to Tropical Storm Alex squalls and the fact I do not mess with lightening.

We are staying at the Keaton Marina at their motel [$69 plus 10% tax], they give you a free boat slip. You rent a cottage for $99 + 10% tax but you have a min of 2 night stay and also get a free boat slip. We chose Weds-Thurs so we could get a room, weekends are zoo, and the ramps tend to be a single ramp with a lot of ppl dropping and folks pulling out.

But, for those who are still exploring the site..I will check the board from my phone, if anyone has any issues I will address them Tues night or Weds morning. I will be up in Steinhatchee scalloping Monday and Tues with other members of this community. Nobody fishing this weekend? I suppose I will be out this coming week to chase some fish and maybe even try to scare up more shrimp.

We are a week out, and time to start our pack out and boat preparations.

We will be meeting at 0430 at the Publix in Deltona.

I-4/Exit 111-A Deltona, stay in right lane, 300 yards, make a right into parking lot at Wendy's Building.

Mike leads convoy, 3 hour trip with 1 stop for bathrooms and ice, we are driving straight to boat ramp to get ahead of afternoon storms.

Boaters, we will be doing about 6 miles a day on the water..I know I need to bring extra gas/oil.

Make sure you have enough life vests, and all that USCG requirement stuff.

Bring 5 gallon bucket/per boat to collect shells,  we do not want to chum the water where we have snorkler's and diver's.

Bring spoon to shell scallops, does not damage meat.

They used to run two boats, but they have sold one and so they don't have as much availibilty for half or full day trips.  It's basically first come first serve.

Please weigh in your response if you're interested.  I would like to get as many as are interested in going to participate.

Biggest catch of the day....you can start fishing early or wait until after 1pm, tourney will go until 3pm/rain threat.

Winner Gets a Cat's meow landing net for use off bridge/pier or to bring in large fish around a boat...Every angler needs a landing net net in their arsenal. You never know when you will go to Sebastian Jetty. Ponce Jetty etc...even as a boat owner....structure fishing is fun add this is a MUST HAVE! The net is green nylon sewn by Ron, attached to a dip net hoop, with pull up ropes.
