new to shrimpin

I am very new to this but enjoy it very much. I have gone to palatka for the last 2 wknds cast netting shrimp and have had a really good time. I have a 24 foot pontoon boat that i built from the ground up.

Hello to all,
Title pretty much says it all. Was wondering what the best bait was and how to use, implement it. Flatlander new to saltwater fishing.

Hello Jeff here, retired from the teamsters union in Chicago on July 1. 37 years in a ready-mix truck was enough. I'm not new to Florida, have had a vacation home in Kissimmee for 12 years. A good friend from Clermont introduced me to shrimping many years ago. I think we went off one of the piers going to Canaveral Shoreline. Have not gone for years and would love to try it again. This looks like a good place to start, thanks for letting me join.Jeff

I'm really surprised that you are surprised Lee, It has taken some time to access this site due to PC problems. Actually, I'm just a shrimper novice and an avid fisherman. Am looking forward to exploring this site. I recognize some of the members as friends.

Hi,

New to this forum but have lived and fished/shrimped the Melbourne/South Brevard area for about 25 years. Moved here from the Orlando area in 1984 so I didn't have to make the drive every weekend.

I retired almost 3 years ago and now fish and shrimp whenever I want.

Mainly a shore fisherman in the surf and Indian River Lagoon and shrimp from the Eau Gallie causeway and Mathers bridge. Also go offshore with friends once in a while.

Hi all. I have never been shrimping which is strange in that it is my most favorite food in the world and I live less than 20mi from the best shrimping grounds in Fl. I hope to learn from you. As soon as the weather starts to cool and I can get some gear together I will go out and try my luck stalking the wily other white meat. Do any of you know of anyone who can teach some one like me to shrimp?

I live in Deltona for about 20 yr. now. About 10 years ago i had a pontoon boat. Would go dip netting out of NS. Never got alot of shrimp. After reading some of your post i know why now. lol sold the boat like 9 years ago. Have not been fishing or anything untill this Spring. Guess I didn't like beening land locked. Started fishing at the ICW piers in NS and PO. Not alot of luck was just feeding the fish and crabs. Got two junk fish in three fishing trips. So I thought I would start crabbing while I was fishing. I think the smart way would to have been just buy some cheap traps. But I wanted traps I could just drop in the water and check in like 2 hours. So I look around some places, but couldn't find any I wanted. So I found plans on the Web to make my own. Changed the plans Made three diffant kinds. Got one That works real good! Had alot of fun building them. Turns out there not legal. Oop. Hard to find all the info. for that even on the web. I like crab meat but...
