Two days short of a month ago. On the FWC website I submitted a Question about crab wire. That the reg. said that the minimal mesh size for crab traps is 1 1/2" That I couldn't find that wire anywhere local. That I had found wire that was 1" by 2" and wanted to know if it was legal. They emailed me with this: "Has to be 1 1/2". They also changed the status to solved. Hmmm if that person had been in front of me. I would have told them what they were full of and thanked them for nothing. Instead I told them that I had found the answer on their website. That it was legal wire because it was 2" mesh. Which is above the minimal size.
No wonder people don't understand the rules. It seems some of the people enforcing them don't understand themselves.

Shrimp is the single most popular seafood in the United States. The average American consumes over 4½ pounds a year. And yes, the cholesterol count is high (about 200 milligrams in 3½ ounces), but that is a deceptive figure. Since the fat content of shrimp is so low (barely 1 gram per serving, as opposed to around 20 grams for an equal amount of beef) and saturated fat increases the absorption of cholesterol in the body, the cholesterol in shrimp is not fully absorbed. Studies have shown that shrimp actually improves the ratio of “good” cholesterol to “bad” cholesterol, and its high levels of unsaturated fatty acids may even contribute to lowered cholesterol levels.

(I ain't no geenyus ya knoe...)

Why don't we start out with a basic shrimp life history

All penaeid shrimps have much the same life cycle. Spawning usually occurs in the ocean from near the beaches to several miles offshore. A single female produces between 500,000 and 1,000,000 eggs and may spawn several times.

During mating, the male transfers a packet of sperm, called a spermatophore, to the female. Brown and pink shrimps mate when the female’s exoskeleton is still soft immediately after molting. The spermatophore is covered over by two “plates” that hold it in place. Spawning in the species may take place days later. Mating of white shrimp occurs...
